A Painful Decision

I sent out an email to a few friends quickly letting you know that I have been absolutely drained... and asking for prayer. Adam and Valerie called off their wedding (which was to happen Friday, May 22) last Tuesday. I'll spare all of the details as some are incredibly painful and hurtful. Both of them are hurting and sad. And both of them are dealing with things very differently. There have been a lot of ordeals that I never imagined happening. It's been exhausting.

Through it all, God has shown Himself so mighty! Just the fact that Matt and I are able to be here is definitely from the Lord. Originally, we weren't even supposed to be home yet from Thailand. Thank you, LORD! God has given verses, dreams, and encouragement in places that surprise us. God is teaching me more about what it means to 'mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice' (Romans 12:15).

Though Adam and Valerie are both in a lot of pain and are grieving a serious loss, we are proud of both of them for sticking with a hard decision. It takes courage. Please join us in praying for both of them--especially on Friday.
